ABOUT OUR PAPER

Centuries
ago, in the hills of Northeastern Burma, the local hill tribes noticed
that the bark of the mulberry tree naturally peeled off once a year.
They discovered that this bark could be made into an all-natural paper
without damaging the tree itself. The hill tribe people called this
tree "Saa" (The Giving Tree), and the same word is still used
in Thailand today.
Thanks to growing interest in environ-mentally safe products, the craft
of making "Saa" paper continues to thrive as a flourishing
cottage industry. This allows many housewives and elderly people to
make their living at home. With every purchase you contribute to the
livelihood of many thankful people.
